Excursion tips Hasle
Museum smokehouse
Directly at the coast of Hasle you find some herring smokehouses where you can taste freshly smoked specialities. In the early morning the herrings and other freshly caught fish are prepared to be eaten shortly before midday, still warm with a little rough sea salt. The “Museumsrøgerierne” of 1807 was maintained in its original shape and can be visited free of charge.
Arts and Craft in Grønbechs Gård
In a former merchant warehouse of the 19th century you find Bornholm‘s centre for arts and craft. In co-operation with the association of Bornholm artists and artisans the centre provides an overview of the arts and craft of the island in glass, ceramics, textiles, metal and wood. Furthermore, changing exhibitions present craftsmen working nationwide.
Rubinsøn
A little outside Hasle we find the magic “ruby lake” in the middle of the forest. It emerged from an earlier coal mine – today you can go around it on a foot path. The orientation signposts lead you past a nesting cave of black woodpeckers and along the coast.
Helligpeder and Teglkås
The two fishermen‘s villages are reached via an approx. 4 km long old coastal trail from Bæla to Gines Minde. Often the path is only at 20 m to the cliff. Today fishermen still live in Helligpeder. You have a wonderful view to the “Jons Kapel” and the 41 m high cliff wall Hvidkleven. The waves often beat many metres up the rock and in the evening you can observe the sun sinking into the sea from here.
