The harbour town of Gager is located in the very centre of the biosphere reserve Southeast Rügen. The village on the shore with its snug harbour is dreamily located between the hills of the Gagerschen Höhen and the Hagenschen Wiek. In GDR days the “Fischereiproduktion/fisheries production Mönchgut” and a cutter shipyard were domiciled here. In the restaurant “Alte Bootswerft” you can taste fresh fish and the high-quality products of a salmon factory. The protected recreational boat and fisheries harbour with 50 berths has been completely redeveloped. With the “Harbour Gager” modern maritime holiday facilities have come forward. Evermore leisure time and powerboats steer for the harbour and cosy togetherness with the last fishing cutters.

Approach to Gager

When approaching the Hagensche Wiek you can use Reddevitzer Höft in the northwest and Großer Zicker in the southeast as a means of orientation. The buoyed waterway towards the port begins at the red G2. Neither the waterway nor the port entrance itself is lit. The water depth to the left and right of the waterway decreases drastically over the last 2 cable lengths outside the port. The pier head is endangered by silting. Once you have left the pier behind you, turn towards the south into the port basin. There are a ship wreck and rocks in northerly direction.
