The Port of Nexø welcomes all visiting mariners in the five northernmost harbour basins. The waterfront area is located right next to the centre of Nexø and is surrounded by restaurants, shops, museums, craft art shops, etc., forming a fine setting with ample space for visiting pleasure craft of all sizes. The three northernmost harbour basins, together with the old dry dock where the “Svanen” barque is being rebuilt, comprise the only major port in Denmark built of Nexø sandstone, the same bedrock out of which the harbour was blasted.
approach to Nexø
The port can be entered both day and night by having due regard to the wind, the current and the visibility, which can be dangerous with strong currents and poor visibility. Magnetic declinations around Bornholm island are possible. Green leading lights in the line of 232° will guide you directly into the port, past the southern, red-lit pier head. The port is blocked, when a black ball is hoisted at the signal mast on a white silo north of the harbour entrance. Three lights arranged on top of each other will indicate, should the port be closed at night. Wait for your entry to be cleared from Monday to Thursday between 7 AM and 3 PM and on Fridays between 7 AM and noon, when a foghorn is sounded every 20 sec. Do not enter and leave the harbour under sails. Anchoring in the approach zone to the harbour is not allowed. Maximum speed 4 kn.
