Puddemin is located at the “Strelasund” in the quiet southwest of the Isle of Rügen, it is still to a great extent, untouched by tourists. This has changed a little with the harbour Puddemin, the natural harbour with modern apartment houses and a restaurant has become a target for excursions of water hikers and bikers. With its apartment house “Port Puddemin” is a wonderful target for yachtsmen who do not want to forgo the comfort of a holiday flat. Via a slip facility yachts and boats can be directly launched, boats can also be leased. Owners of small boats enjoy having the possibility to sail around half of the Isle of Rügen from here without having to sail out into the rough Baltic Sea.

Approach to Puddemin

The red buoy P2 is located at the height of light buoy 22 (Fl.R.4s) in the Strelasund waterway, which can be approached from buoy 22 with 258°. It is located between Wussitzer Haken and Glewitzer Ort and marks the entry into the buoyed shipping channel towards Puddemin port. Keep away from Glewitzer Ort because of the stone reef. The buoyed shipping channel guides you through Glewitzer Wiek and Puddeminer Wiek. The latter tends to be full of mud and is heavily silted. The maintained depth of 2 m in the waterway as shown in the nautical charts is not always ensured. There are only a few isolated buoys on the last section of the waterway. You steer directly from the last green buoy No. 7 to the bulwark’s head. The place can be safely entered with a draft of up to 1.50 m, when the water level is normal.
