Southeast Skåne

Southeast Skåne

Southeast Skåne is a maritime hub of the south Baltic. The five communities Ystad, Skurup, Tomelilla, Simrishamn and Sjöbo have joined up to be able to present their agricultural and cultural treasures all the better. Sailors come here over the open seas – be it from the Isle of Rügen, from Bornholm or from other Baltic neighbours. While sailing close along the coast the sailor can let the landscape pass by. In the south he is welcomed by the flat coast with its extensive sand beaches. Lively fishermen‘s villages intercept this shoreline, or the cliffs of Kåseberga or the medieval coastal town of Ystad.

While the green meadows of the “granary of Sweden” light up in the background, pretty little villages, numerous workshops and ateliers welcome their guests along the coastal road. Restaurants and inns do their best to meet the culinary heritage of the region. In Ystad you can explore the town with the “overweight and usually badly tempered” Kurt Wallander from Henning Mankell‘s detective stories. Experience the typical taste of smoked fish at “Kiviks ål & laxrökeri” or visit a festival at the medieval castle Glimmingehus. Particularly beautiful gardens invite you to visit them on your excursions; in the castle park of Marsvinsholm comedies are staged.
